The event was funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in the framework of Ukraine Resilience and Energy Security Program and implemented in cooperation with the Ukrainian Bioenergy Association. It explored the current state and prospects of the biomethane market, focusing on policy and regulatory frameworks, feedstock availability, and sustainable sourcing in the Ukrainian context.
Discussions highlighted the economic feasibility and financing models for biomethane projects, as well as the environmental and sustainability aspects of the sector. Participants also examined key challenges and opportunities for further growth. Additional focus was made on perspective substrates for biogas/biomethane production, particularly intermediate/cover crops, ligno-cellulose materials and micro- algae harvested on digestate of biogas plants.
To demonstrate the sector’s potential, case studies of successful biomethane projects in Ukraine were presented, offering practical insight into ongoing developments and future possibilities.
The event brought together government officials and policymakers, agricultural producers and farm owners, technology providers, equipment manufacturers, investors, energy developers, utility representatives, and consultants from both the energy and agriculture sectors.
